Description
Fractal print on canvas, 26″ x 26″. By carefully selecting fractal equations and color mappings, I can obtain very different looks for each image, like this one reminiscent of smoke billows or oil on water, but always chaotic and Superfunkadelic. Named for Acharya Pingala, the ancient Indian mathematician and poet, who in the 3rd century B.C.E. was using mathematics to analyze and write poetry, just as today I use mathematics to understand and generate artwork. Because of the number of calculations required, rendering a high-resolution version of the image can take several hours on a modern desktop computer. Printed on iridescent canvas with the fractal equation included on the edge wrap.
