Earthenware clay, raku process, reduction copper glaze, 8x11x11. This is possibly the funkiest thing I have ever made. He is a giant round toad that everyone wants to touch (and I don't discourage it – touching results in changes to the glaze as there is a lot of copper in the glaze – these are called saturated metal glazes). Also to mention the well-known psychedelic effects of various toad toxins and their association with witches and spells. Also just the creation of this guy – the piece is pretty thin-walled coil pottery, it's lightweight comparatively – so imagine the joy of seeing this toad RED HOT, being taken from the kiln with tongs and surviving – by all rights this toad should have shattered. So he's just a delight and a freak of creation.
