20" x 24" This was part of a 6 piece series, from 2023. I was thinking about the ending of empires, and what is remembered/forgotten. This lead to a search for ancient artifacts and textiles. This one is a Shakokidogu, one of many small figurines made during the Jōmon period of prehistoric Japan. It's believed they were fertility symbols and may have aided in childbirth.
