Hi friends!
We are incredibly excited to host one of our favorite artists for the month of October! Come out and meet Jade Levya this First Friday, October 1st from 5-8pm! (Read more about Jade below!) Additionally, several of our artists have shows or workshop offerings this month; we’ll tell you where to find them. We’ve got fun new merch from Amy available at the gallery, and we’ll let you know what the city has planned for entertainment in Old Town during the next couple of weeks during Balloon Fiesta!

Be well, live artfully, don’t forget to howl at the moon now and again…

-Amy & The Ghostwolf Gang

PS- New Mexico still has a mask mandate in effect for indoor spaces, so please bring one with you to all of the events on our list and respect other precautions our artists may be taking to keep you, other guests, and themselves safe and healthy. Thanks!

WHERE: Ghostwolf! 206-1/2 San Felipe ST NW STE 3
WHEN: October 1st, 2021 (5-8pm)
Show runs through October 31st

This month we present the magical realism of artist Jade Levya! Jade’s influences range from pre-Colombian to post-modern. At times whimsical, celebratory and reflective, always thought provoking and expressive, the central themes of her work are love, unity, and our fragile relationship to Mother Earth. Jade’s CV is as impressive as her portfolio, and we know you will want to meet the artist and join us in celebrating her work this First Friday! Jade may also be doing a demonstration at the gallery during Balloon Fiesta. We’ll keep you posted!

A quick note regarding COVID-19 protocols…
As stated in our introductory statement this month, New Mexico currently has a mask mandate for indoor spaces. Kindly wear a mask in the gallery while visiting us. If you forget a mask and need one, never fear! Just ask one of our artists and we’ll provide one. Thank you!!

The True Love for Oneself by Gabriela Henner
Acrylic on wooden panel, 15.5″x 11.5″

Gaby writes:

This portrait exemplifies the purest love of all, the unconditional love for oneself. The green monster hugging the golden monster (inner self) in a warm embrace is the acknowledgment of her whole being and all of the facets that make her the unique creature she is. An inner calm washes over her as they both join together again in true harmony. You will always be there for yourself, even when you feel most alone, for you are your own guiding light.

(And look at how cute your inner self is!)

We’re #2! We’re #2! (Thank you!)

Thanks to you, we’re #2! And, to be very clear, we don’t mind taking second place to a museum (516 ARTS won first place again this year)! Thanks to all of you that took the time to pop over and vote, and that cheerlead for the gallery and our artists on a regular basis. We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again… YOU ROCK! And, your support has literally meant everything throughout the pandemic. So much love for you all!

If you have not checked them out, The Paper is the successor to The Alibi (Best of Burque) and they are doing a really great job on reporting local, national, and even international news. The “Albuquerque’s Best” awards came out a couple of weeks ago, and you can check them out for information on other great local businesses!

ROE LiBretto
Contemporary Illuminations
This month at Ghostwolf, Roe LiBretto is exhibiting three works from her Illuminated Manuscripts series. These works are composed similarly to those found in a medieval Book of Hours. Such books were commissioned by royal families to contain paintings of life in their kingdom, images of their favorite spiritual role models, and prayers. Roe’s use of medieval composition to frame her unique iconography places her allegories within the historical context of visual art as a stimulus for self-reflection. Her three watercolors: The Annunciation; The Artist; and Remission are on view until October 31.

The Annunciation, unframed 28” x 19”, watercolor on cotton rag paper, $1,800.
