Rocky Norton, “Attitude and Attention, Discrimination and Detachment”, 8’x6’, House paint, pencil, crayonsThis month we are super extra stoked to have Rocky Norton in the house! Rocky’s work varies from contemporary architectural miracles to large-scale paintings which tend to take a critical look at modern culture in all of its complexity (and irony), often finding poignancy and/or beauty in the imperfect.

Rocky’s work is nothing short of stellar and we can’t emphasize enough that you really need to see these LARGE pieces up close to appreciate their craftsmanship. A true maker, Rocky was kind enough to consult us on our remodel of the new space before we began working on it. We think you will agree that his work looks stunning on our beautiful floating wall in the front gallery! Come sit on the bench he crafted for us and chat with him about his work!

A quick note regarding COVID-19 protocols…
As stated in our introductory statement this month, New Mexico currently has a mask mandate for indoor spaces. Kindly wear a mask in the gallery while visiting us. If you forget a mask and need one, never fear! Just ask one of our artists and we’ll provide one. Thank you!!

With pieces like I Have Fishoes, Shoey Armstrong, and Reptheel, Barbara is always waiting for the next bad pun to come along wearing the right pair of shoes. Please

join her on this dramatic departure into the secret life of shoes!

WHEN: Sunday, September 19th, (9a-4p)

Join Barb as she spends the day sculpting and displaying her work at two beautiful gardens. for more information.

A Studio Conversation With Roe LiBrettoNew work by Roe LiBrettoGhostwolf artist Roe LiBretto completed the paintings in her Theological Virtues Trio this past month with a 36′ square watercolor titled “Sustainable Charity”. The paintings in this set, first conceived in November 2020, include The Duality of Hope, Illuminated in the Current Self, and Sustainable Charity. In this 30 minute interview (click here) she talks about those paintings, and her current work in progress, with artist/curator KD Neeley and artist Caitlin Padilla. Though Illuminated in the Current Self  has been acquired by a private collector, you can see the remaining two works at Ghostwolf during the month of September. Roe intends to release limited edition giclées of the Theological Virtues Trio in November.

L. Balombini On The Road…

L. Balombini / red paint studio is traveling the Maine coast and Isle au Haut (an island off mid coast) for prospective art workshop offerings in the near future. Laura is also gathering images for a new series of layered and textured abstract landscapes with ecology/geology as the storyline of events as imagined like a slice of multilayered cake; each layer representing an event in a set time line in history. Of course it’s all brewing (or baking) in Laura’s mind’s eye right now… stay tuned for images of the process
