ORPHEUM COMMUNITY HUB DEDICATION DENISE WEAVER ROSS & ROE LiBRETTO
WHERE: Orpheum Community Hub, 500 2nd St SW WHEN: Monday, August 12th (1:30-2:30)
The City of Albuquerque and Homewise will celebrate the mural created by Ghostwolf artists Denise Weaver Ross and Roe LiBretto in a dedication ceremony to be held Monday August 12 from 1:30 to 2:30 pm. The ceremony is to be held at the mural site, the headquarters of Homewise, at 500 2nd Street SW, Albuquerque.
The Orpheum Community Hub mural is situated at the gateway to Barelas, along Coal Avenue between 1st and 2nd Streets. It represents the history of the community from its railroad years to its current role as a film location site. It was a complex project that took more than 16 months of planning and execution. When you see the mural site, you’ll see why it was a real test of Denise and Roe’s skill, physical endurance, and patience. Now they’re ready to celebrate!
To learn more about the history of Barelas, as it’s represented in Denise’s mural design, we encourage you to read Roe’s July 17 journal entry here. If you missed the making of the mural backstory, check out Roe’s May 27 journal entry here.
CHRISTA STEPHENS HAPPY LITTLE CLOUDS: SKYSCAPES OF NEW MEXICO
WHERE: Santa Fe Community Gallery WHEN: June 14- September 12, 2019 (Opens June 14, 5-7pm)
We are delighted to announce that the contemporary work of Janice Trimpe is back at Ghostwolf! Those that have followed our gallery for awhile will recall that we lost this lovely and immensely talented soul recently to cancer. Janice was an internationally collected and renowned artist with large-scale installations across Southeastern Michigan. She was a diverse sculptor that produced commissioned works for the likes of Baryshnikov. Her estate has agreed to share with us a limited number of her remaining pieces for sale. These are genuinely a collector’s dream at very reasonable pricing. While we are wont to covet them for ourselves, if you missed your chance a couple of years ago to pick up one of these dynamic pieces, you’ve got another opportunity! Come see why collectors world-wide adored her work.
