September 2018

First Friday ARTScrawl (September 7th; 5-8pm)
MURALFEST: Preview of the Tortuga Art Gallery Mural

Tonight! Celebrate Mural Fest with Denise Weaver Ross, Roe LiBretto, & Joel Davis and get a sneak-preview of the design they created for Tortuga Gallery before the installation. Learn how their project helps our Rio Grande Bosque! As always, we will have light refreshments and many of our artists onhand to chat. The mural preview will be on display throughout the month of September.

More about MURALFEST:

This year’s theme, “When Nature Calls” focuses on Planet Earth’s climate crisis and how it is effecting all life on earth. The effects of global change are real and observable, from fires in California, Hurricanes in Houston & Puerto Rico, to the drought conditions here in New Mexico we are all far too familiar with. Muralfest seeks to highlight solutions we can all play a part in bringing to fruition, through murals, music, and culinary arts.

In addition to our September ARTScrawl celebration, you can join Roe, Denise, and all the artists of this year’s fest at the opening ceremony Saturday, September 22. For addtional information on gallery event dates, artists, sponsors, and more, check out the Mural Fest 2018 website

Albuquerque Muesum:
American Jewelry from New Mexico

Where: Albuquerque Museum
When: Ongoing, regular museum hours

Two Ghostwolf artists have pieces in the ongoing “American Jewelry from New Mexico” exibit. The museum has acquired these pieces for its permanent collection.

Per the museum website: “Albuquerque Museum presents a major exhibition with accompanying book published by the Museum of New Mexico Press, surveying, through more than 300 spectacular objects, all aspects of jewelry adornment from prehistory to the present. Rather than focus on a single culture group, individual artist, time period, or medium as have most jewelry exhibitions and publications, American Jewelry from New Mexico tells the stories of diverse heritages simultaneously, as artists live, in concert, trade, and adaptation with their neighbors.
