September First Friday ARTScrawl (September 1st; 5-8pm)
This month, we welcome artist Ashton S. Phillips. Ashton presents “Ancient Alchemy”, a debut of new abstract works. He will give a talk at 6:30pm discussing his process and the inspiration for the show. Live music by classical cellist Lisa Donald at 7pm, and as always, light refreshments.
It’s a HOOPLA! Join Ghostwolf in celebrating 20 years ofECLECTICA magazineon Saturday September 9th from 1-4! ECLECTICA magazine is not bound by formula or genre and full of engaging perspectives that characterize the work of a broad sampling of writers.
“Hoopla” means “excitement surrounding an event or situation, especially when considered to be unnecessary fuss”, and that’s pretty much what we’re doing. We’ll have poetry, fiction, and non-fiction readings, guest artists, music, and treats!
Guest artists for one-weekend only, include Susan Klebanoff, an internationally renowned tapestry artist whose work hangs in the Smithsonian; Laura Robbins, whose vibrant pieces can be found everywhere in Albuquerque, most notably at the Botanic Gardens Dragonfly Sanctuary; Pamela Gemin, who makes “vintage inspired jewelry” in Flagstaff; and Victoria Mlady, an Albuquerque photographer and painter whose “high quality archival pigment ink digital prints” translate to bold, bright, and beautiful images.
Photo-Encaustic Workshops to be Offered at Ghostwolf!
On Saturday, September 23rd (10-1pm) Carol Mell will be hosting a three hour basic course covering beginning photo-encaustic technique including mounting the photo on a panel, applying melted beeswax and resin, and exploring techniques in color and texture. Participants will take home a finished mixed media piece. The cost is $75 + tax, all materials included. Seating is very limited- you can register here!

Ghostwolf artists Amy M. Ditto and Carol Mell represent Ghostwolf in the ARTScrawl NOW exhibition at the Hotel Andaluz. Their work can be seen in the hotel’s second floor mezzanine now through the end of July. The hotel has a lovely patio bar and gourmet restaurant, so make time for dinner, drinks, and art.

Artist Roe LiBretto, along with several other local painters present “Tincture” a group show. Amongst the group is Ghostwolf alumus Jona Lou Batt!

Santa Fe Artists Market

Join Amy in Santa Fe in the lovely Cathedral Park outside the historic Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi. The Santa Fe Artists Market is a juried group of ~100 active New Mexican artists. The quality of the work is outstanding, as is the venue.
In addition to local artists, Cathedral park is the location for a temporary exhibit by theMuseo Nacional de Prado.The exhibition contains 92 full scale and high quality reproductions of masterpieces in the Prado collection. It’s extremely cool and well worth seeing, so come out, say hi to Amy, and check it out before it’s gone!
